Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption] Kolkata: Come November 11 when the two brothers of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee go against each other in the forthcoming elections of the Bengal Olympic Association (BOA). Both the rival groups headed by Ajit Banerjee and Swapan Banerjee on Monday submitted the names of the candidate on the last date of filling the nomination. There will be elections for 14 posts with no one standing against the current Bengal Olympic Association (BOA) President Ajit Banerjee. The elections will take place at the East Bengal tent on November 11 at 2:30pm. An observer appointed by the Indian Olympic Association will oversee the election process. The election which was supposed to take place in September at the Khudiram Anushilan Kendra had to be postponed to this month as the BOA President Ajit Banerjee felt there was a need for a committee to oversee the election process. It is no more an open secret that both the brothers Ajit and Swapan have had their difference of opinion. They both have their issues and their principles also are not the same. Both the groups have been campaigning against each other over the last few days. Swapan Banerjee’s camp has raised quite a few questions against the ruling group. The ruling party counter alleged that there were several members who have done nothing over the last few years – indicating towards Ramanuj Mukherjee, Asit Banerjee, Jahar Das and Bani Ghosh. In fact all four of them are now in Swapan’s camp after losing favour with the current regime. Former Olympian Gurbux Singh’s candidature was also questioned by the ruling party. Gurbux, who was associated with Ajit Banerjee over the last few years, is being nominated by Swapan Banerjee for the post of vice president. “He has attended only 10 meetings over the last 4 years. He was not being able to spare enough time for the association” is what Ajit Banerjee had to say about the former Olympian. Swapan’s nomination for the post of secretary was also challenged by the ruling group citing the reason that he is not experienced enough for the post and has a language problem. According to the current President Ajit Banerjee, “Those who have done nothing for the association for the last few years, only their names do not find place in our list.” On being asked why former treasurer Jahar Das name does not feature in the list, an excited BOA President commented, “He has done nothing to find favour.” But the biggest disappointment for Swapan was getting his nomination challenged by his own brother. “I am still saying my brother is not experienced enough to take the post.” On being reminded that Swapan was earlier praised by him during the torch relay of the BOA, he said, “You all are forgetting that was a programme of the association in which he was just a part.” He further threw challenge at the opposition camp headed by his brother saying, “To tell you frankly my younger brother is not a factor.” According to Swapan, “I do not fight to lose. I am more at ease leading from the front rather than staying behind.” With both the groups flexing their muscles and slinging mud at each other, one can expect a lot of drama at the East Bengal club tent on November 11.   Below is the list of both panels:
