XtraTime Web Desk: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in talks with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to reschedule the pending test series in October. If the series does go through, it will be in the middle of the IPL 2020 season in UAE. Will the rescheduling of the series have any impact on the IPL 2020? The answer is negative as no Bangladesh cricketer is part of any IPL franchises. As far as Sri Lankan cricketers are concerned, there are only two are involved with IPL teams. While Lasith Malinga has been a pillar at Mumbai Indians, Isuru Udana was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the auction held last year. Both the cricketers should not face any problem in obtaining the No Objection Certificate from SLC.

The test series between both countries was scheduled in July but due to COVID-19 the series had to be postponed indefinitely. With the International Cricket Council (ICC) officially postponing the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed their willingness to reschedule the series in October.

In an interview to ESPN Cricinfo, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, “The ICC’s announcement of the three major tournaments has provided what window we can work with, as now that we know that the tournament dates are fixed, we can work around with our schedule,”.

He added, “Both boards are positive about the Test series going ahead later this year. We are in talks with SLC. Sri Lanka is in a better condition [in terms of Covid-19 caseload] than any of the other sub-continent countries at the moment, and since the situation is not favourable here, we are more keen on the away matches.”
