Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter Ajinkya Rahane has been ruled out of the ongoing season of IPL 2022 due to Grade III hamstring injury. He is set to exit the Kolkata Knight Riders bubble on Monday evening. The nature of injury also puts him in serious doubts for the tour to England later next month. India is supposed to play the fifth and final test against England which was postponed due to Covid-19 scare in Indian team.

The right-hander will not be available for selection for Kolkata Knight Riders' last league stage game against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday, May 18.

The latest injury setback comes as a huge blow for Rahane. The right-handed batsman has already lost his place in the Indian Test team. He was dropped from the test squad earlier this year, owing to poor form. He was not part of the Test squad for the two-match home series against Sri Lanka. The ouster from the squad saw Rahane return to domestic cricket. The Mumbai cricketer would have hoped for a recall to the Test team for the upcoming tour but it looks highly unlikely now.
