The Mariners faced the ignominy of  a 0-6 drubbing at the hands of Shandong . The I League champions have been placed in the Group G with South China ( Hong Kong ) , Yangon United ( Myanmar ) , Maziya Sports and Recreation Club ( Maldives ) Mohun Bagan begin their AFC Cup campaign on 24 February, 2016 against Maziya S&RC (Maldives). They have appeared in the last two AFC campaigns but failed to qualify for the knockouts.
