Yashasvi Jaiswal nominated for ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year

Xtra Time Web Desk: International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday (January 3) announced the nominees for the Men’s T20I and Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2023. Team India’s rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal has been nominated in ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year Award while Suryakumar Yadav is shortlisted for ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year.

ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year is a recognition for the upcoming talent in the sport. It is given in both Men’s and Women’s categories. Team India’s rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal who made his Test and T20I debut last year has been nominated alongside South Africa’s speedster Gerald Coetzee, Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madhushanka and New Zealand’s all-rounder Rachin Ravindra all of whom did extremely well at the ODI World Cup that was played in India.

In the Men’s ICC T20I Player of the Year category, last year’s winner Suryakumar Yadav once again finds his place in the shortlisted candidates. He has been nominated alongside New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, Uganada’s Alpesh Ramjani and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza. Mark Chapman was the sixth highest run-getter in 2023 while Surya is at the third in the list. As for Alpesh of Uganda, he ended 2023 as the highest wicket-taker of the year.

The winners of all the categories will be announced later this month.
