Yadav, Dhawan first to arrive, Kohli to reach Kolkata on Monday

Kolkata: The Team India members have started arriving in the city today to take part in the first test match against Sri Lanka which begins at the Eden Gardens from November 16. First to check in was pace spearhead Umesh Yadav and dashing opener Shikhar Dhawan. Eight members including support staff arrived in batches on Sunday.

Team India Head Coach Ravi Shastri arrived in the city late evening while cricketers from Mumbai including Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane will arrive in the city late night along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and batting coach Sanjay Bangar.

The skipper Virat Kohli will be arriving in the city tomorrow morning.

“India skipper Virat Kohli will arrive tomorrow morning, while six other team members including Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane are slated to arrive tonight. Coach Ravi will also arrive tonight,” said the local manager of the Indian team.

The Indian cricketers have an optional training session at the Eden Gardens tomorrow afternoon. This will be the first test series at home for Ravi Shastri as Team India coach.

Having routed Sri Lanka 3-0 en route to a 9-0 sweep across all formats, India will take on the same islanders in a return series with three each Tests, ODIs and T20Is in the series concluding in Mumbai on December 24.
