File Pic[/caption] Internet Desk:  India had a mixed day in the US Open badminton championship yesterday. Two shuttlers advanced in the singles and a pair of male and female advanced to the quarterfinal of this event. However, three shuttlers among Canada Open winner B. Sai Praneeth lost in singles matches. Indian shuttlers selected for the upcoming Rio Olympic had a tough fight to win their doubles match against Yuta Watanbe and Kenya Mitsuhashi of Japan. Indians Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy won the match by 23-21 21-13. When less than one month is remaining for the Rio Olympics then this result from these two shuttlers is very worrying for India. They will represent India in the doubles in Rio. However, the pair of Yuta and Kenya was among the top seeds. Today Manu and Sumeeth will face Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan. Indian shuttlers Anand Power and Pratul Joshi were face-to-face in their pre-quarterfinal match. Pratul lost to Anand by 21-10 21-13. Also Ajay Jayaram won his pre-quarterfinal against Pedro Martins of Portugal by 21-11 21-15. Indian women shuttlers Jakkampudi Meghana and S. Poorvisha won their women’s doubles match against Sydney Lee and Ariel Lee of USA to reach the quarterfinal. However, another woman shuttler Tanvi Lad lost her singles match against Beiwen Zhang of USA. It was very bad news for India as Canada Open 2016 winner B. Sai Praneeth lost his singles match to Kajumasa Sakai of Japan. However, it was a tough tie of three sets where Praneeth won the first set. Finally he lost by 21-13 17-21 20-22.
