MS Dhoni donates his wicket-keeping gloves for cancer patient Bapi Majhi and Alip Chakraborty's family

Kolkata: Indian ODI & T20I captain MS Dhoni has donated his wicket keeping gloves and pads for the fundraising charity auction for the treatment of cancer patient Bapi Majhi. It is the same pair of wicket keeping gloves with which the talismanic wicketkeeper has inflicted quite a few stumping and took some outstanding catches in international cricket. The Rising Pune Supergiants captain has also donated his pair of wicket keeping pads for the charity auction. Dhoni, who also has a charity foundation, has come forward to support in this noble cause by xtratime.in.
The pads and pair of gloves were used by MSD in ODI’s and T20’s. Arguably the best Indian captain of all time, Dhoni has also wished a speedy recovery of Bapi. The die-hard Mohun Bagan fan is diagnosed with stomach cancer few months back and is presently under treatment. He has undergone a series of successful chemotherapy. As doctors prescribed he will have to undergo more of chemo.
Joining hands with Dhoni is Ajinkya Rahane. The vice captain of the Indian test team has donated his India ODI jersey for the noble cause.
Another Indian cricketer Manish Pandey has donated his Knight Rider jersey. Pandey is a part of the Indian ODI and T20 squad that will be lead by Dhoni for the tour Zimbabwe.
The best all rounder in ODI’s Shakib al Hasan has also come forward in this noble initiative. The all rounder from Bangladesh has donated his bats for the charity auction.
Among the other international cricketers who have contributed towards the charity auction are Knight Riders china man bowler Brad Hogg. The 45 year old Aussie has donated his KKR jersey to be put under the hammer.
Even, former Indian cricketer and IPL franchisee Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor, VVS Laxman too has come forward by donating the practice jersey of SRH in this edition of IPL.
The charity fundraising auction will take place at a Central Kolkata hotel on June 11. Former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly and India’s football icon Bhaichung Bhutia will be present on the occasion.
The amount raised from the auction will be handed over to Bapi Majhi for his treatment as well as to Alip Chakraborty’s family, who lost the battle with cancer a week back. Alip is survived by his wife and son. Alip was diagnosed with tongue cancer in November last year.
