The opening encounter of the VIVO IPL 2016 will see them play Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS), the new entrants in the league, at the historic Wankhede Stadium. The final, slated for May 29, will also be played in Mumbai. A total of 60 matches (including the 4 playoffs) will be played over a period of 51 days, in the ninth season of the tournament that has captured the imagination of cricket lovers across the world. The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium at Raipur will play host to two home games of Delhi Daredevils, whilst the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium at Nagpur will host three home games of Kings XI Punjab. Knight Riders will play six away matches on a trot to avoid clashing with election dates .
