XtraTime Web Desk: I League winning Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Shilton Paul and his wife Saina has decided to come forward in support of the Amphan affected people of Sundarbans. Shilton has been planning this ever since the cyclone tore apart the region around the Sundarbans leaving hundreds of families homeless and without food. The Bagan goalkeeper set an example for fellow footballers by standing besides the people of the devastated Sundarbans. For the last two days, he has been handing over food items, sarees, clothes, pants and other necessities to the victims in different areas of Namkhana and Patharpratima. However, he is not alone, his wife Saina and his friends have also joined him in this social cause. They have handed over relief items to 300 affected families in Patibunia and Dashanagar of Namkhana on Saturday.

On Sunday, Shilton handed out relief items to 250 family members of the Sridharnagar Gram Panchayat. Rice, pulses, potatoes, oil, salt, powdered milk for children, water bottles, biscuits, lollipops, soap, masks - all the necessary things were provided. He also donated clothes for men and women of different ages.

The Bagan custodian is also planning to hold a medical camp in the Sundarbans.

Speaking about his experience to Xtra Time, Shilton said, "The people here are devastated by the terrible Amphan cyclone. I feel blessed to be by their side in this day of devastation. If we don't come forward with the help for the poor needy people at this time, when will we come? It is part of the social duty for all of us." In the next few days, the green-maroon hawk also expressed his desire to bring doctors to this affected area of the Sundarbans to hold a medical camp.”
