Why Ishan Kishan decided against playing Ranji Trophy matches for Jharkhand?

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan is in news recently for not playing Ranji Trophy games for Jharkhand despite Head Coach Rahul Dravid insisting the youngster to play a few first-class games. Ishan was dropped from the India test squad for the ongoing series against England on grounds of indiscipline. Despite suggestions from selectors and India’s head coach Rahul Dravid to participate in domestic cricket, Kishan is notably absent from Jharkhand’s Ranji Trophy matches. But a video that has been uploaded by Ishan on his social media handle Instagram seems like he is currently at the National Cricket Academy. Maybe he was carrying an injury and has reported to NCA to regain full fitness.

During the recently concluded T20I series against Afghanistan, Dravid confirmed Kishan will need to play domestic cricket and make himself available. However, this plan has not materialized, resulting in Kishan’s omission from the Indian Test squad, with Dhruv Jurel earning a maiden Test call-up.

Rahul Dravid clarified that Kishan had requested and been granted a break during the South Africa series, but he has not made himself available for domestic cricket as of now. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has maintained silence on the matter, and Kishan’s recent social media post indicates his presence at the National Cricket Academy. Whether his absence is due to injury or a routine visit remains unclear, leaving fans and observers awaiting further updates on the young cricketer’s status.
