Xtra Time Web Desk: The third and final test between Australia and Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) will be known as Pink Test. It will be the 16th Pink Test to be played at Sydney. The Pink Test has evolved into one of Australia’s most iconic sporting events that brings the community together in support of families experiencing breast cancer. Australia led the three-match series 2-0.

The Pink Test is normally the first Test of the year played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The stands and signs around the venue, including the stumps in the middle, during the match will be coloured in pink. The idea behind the Pink Test is to spread awareness about breast cancer. Glenn McGrath, the former Australia fast bowler, lost his wife, Jane, due to the disease.

The McGrath Foundation was formed in 2005 after Jane McGrath was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Foundation, in association with Cricket Australia, raises awareness about the problem and collects funds for patients and survivors.

The first Pink Test took place in 2009, a year after Jane passed away, between Australia and South Africa. The Test match between Australia and Pakistan will be the 16th edition.

This year the organizers will start “The Virtual Pink Seat” campaign in order to involve the fans who cannot make it to SCG and show their support.”

Ahead of the Pink Test starting on Wednesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the McGrath Foundation and Cricket Australia have called on Australia to unite in pink to help reach the McGrath Foundation’s goal of 250 McGrath Breast Care Nurses this year.
