What happened to the all awaited medical test of Mohun Bagan’s newly signed foreigner?

Kolkata: The speculations are over. Mohun Bagan’s new foreigner Diogo Ferreira successfully passed the medical test and confirmed his place in the Green and Maroon line up for the forthcoming season. He was undergoing the medical for two days and finally got the certificate he needed.

The former FC Porto youth player  has been one of the biggest recruits of this season and will do his first press conference for the Kolkata giants tomorrow. Diogo becomes the second player after Dopanda Dicka to complete his move for Mohun Bagan in the I-League among the foreigners.

Ferreira completed a successful trial with FC Porto and was signed to the club’s youth academy. Whilst in Portugal, he was loaned out to a second division team. At the age of 18,Ferreira thought it was time to return to Australia, and returned to Green Gully, his childhood club. Ferreira was then signed to Melbourne Victory’s youth team playing in the National Youth League. He was a key player for two seasons, and was therefore promoted to the club’s senior team.

The player has represented Australia in U-23 category. He has played in A-League (Australian League) from 2010 to 2016. Currently he is playing in Malaysian Super Liga for Penang FC.

Meanwhile, in Kolkata Football Festival 2017, former Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Debjit Majumder told the media, “Though I will be playing for ATK this season, I would be hoping Mohun Bagan will all the trophies this season. Whenever I’ll get the time, I will watch Mohun Bagan’s matches this season.”

Subrata Paul too got felicitated in that event and the veteran goalkeeper said, “Bad times are part of life, these hurdles transform the character of a sportsman. I have left all those things behind and want to look ahead.”

Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen and East Bengal coach Khalid Jamil too shared the frame for the first time since the former Aizawl FC coach took the charge of the Red and Gold brigade. Both the coaches got felicitated as well for their performances. Sanjoy got the best coach award and Khalid got the award for winning the I-League last season.
