XtraTime Web Desk: West Indies cricket legend Sir Everton Weekes passed away at his residence in Barbados on Wednesday. He was 95 years old. Sir Everton Weekes was part of the famous ‘Three W’s’, the other two being Sir Clyde Walcott and Sir Frank Worrell. The trio famously helped the West Indies to a historic test series win in England. The legendary batsman scored 4,455 runs from 48 tests at an average of 58.61.
He scored five consecutive test hundreds against India, before being controversially run out for 90 when going for a sixth.Sir Everton Weekes received his knighthood in 1995.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) paid a tribute to Sir Everton Weekes, the legendary West Indies batsman. Commenting of the death of Sir Everton Weekes, Ricky Skerritt, the President of CWI said, “He had an amazing legacy as a great cricketer and great human being. He was one of the most humble and decent persons you would have ever met. I want to take this opportunity to publicly express our deepest sympathy to the family of this remarkable gentleman, who passed away earlier today.”
