Xtra Time Web Desk: New Zealand batting mainstay Henry Nicholls on Thursday said they have left behind the World Cup final loss to England. The BlackCaps squad was treated to the highlights of 2019 World Cup final at Lords by Sky Sports once they entered their rooms in Hilton.

"[The World Cup final] was on the TV the first day we arrived," said Nicholls, who top-scored for his side in the 2019 final but could only watch on as England were awarded the title on boundary countback.

"It’s one of those things. It’s a great occasion, not just the final itself but the whole World Cup and it was a hell of a journey. There are a few of the guys who were in that team who are here and a few who aren’t ,” said Nicholls before BlackCaps first training session at the Ageas Bowl.

"It’s somewhat interesting to be back at the same venue and certainly as a group we’re looking forward to the history that comes with Lord’s, certainly the Test side of things."

"It’s really good facilities here and it’s the Test Championship final venue so it’s good to get a sighter on things."

"The boys are pretty stoked to get out of their rooms. It’s only been three days but we’re enjoying having a run around even though it’s pretty cold and pretty wet," Nicholls said.

"It’s been good to the boots on and feel like you’re here for the cricket. It’s not quite summer but the boys would’ve have taken any conditions today just to have a run around."

The BlackCaps will play an intra-squad match from Wednesday (May 26) ahead of the first Test against England at Lords, starting June 2.
