The former Argentine captain, apart from showing glimpses of his brilliance in the Match of Peace charity game in Rome in honour of Pope Francis, was also involved in an ugly spat with Juan Sebastian Veron. The duo was playing against each other in the charity match. Maradona had to be stopped by security staff after he got into the ugly spat. The Argentina legend, playing alongside the likes of Ronaldinho and Francesco Totti, responded angrily to a challenge and exchanged words with the former Man Utd and Chelsea midfielder at half-time. Maradona tripped over Veron without noticing him. Both players got into a war of words during the half-time. Maradona was caught on the camera looking visibly distressed and had to be held back by staff. The 55 year old footballer showed his brilliance when he set up Antonio Di Natale for the first goal of the match. Maradona perfectly chipped a through ball to find Stefano Mauri in the vacant space who then crossed the ball for Di Natale to tap home.Sadly though his Serie A XI lost 4-3 to the La Liga XI. Ronaldinho, Hernan Crespo, Cafu, Roberto Carlos and Robert Pires also participated in the game. https://youtu.be/YX28tRbKdAs
