Internet Desk: Top Indian sports persons from varied fields congratulated and showed their respect to gymnast Dipa Karmakar after achieving the fourth spot in the Olympic. From Olympic Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra to former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag applauded her after her missing the Medal for a whisker.
“Reqst to Hon’ble @narendramodi ji & @sureshprabhu ji 2consider d following in honour of #DipaKarmakar & #LalitaBabar,” Sehwag wrote on his Twitter on Monday. “Everyone likes saluting the rising sun. Though our champions in Rio have not won a medal thus far for their incredible efforts and skills, the way some of them have fought against all odds has been amazing. It’s important that we honour their efforts,” he added.
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tandulkar not only congratulated her, but also gave her support to the 23years gymnast from Tripura. He wrote on his twitter, “Winning & losing is a part of sport.. You’ve won millions of hearts & the entire nation is proud of ur achievements.”
The lone Olympic Gold Medalist of India Abhinav Bindra also congratulated her through twitter. “Dipa Karmakar you are my hero !” he said.
Present Indian state minister and Olympic Silver Medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also commented, “Very proud of Dipa Karmakar”.
