Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should open for India in T20 World Cup, says Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly said that he wants Rohit and Kohli to open for India in T20 WC

Xtra Time Web Desk: Sourav Ganguly is advocating for a change in the Indian cricket team’s batting order for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024. Ganguly believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have been performing well for their IPL teams, should open the batting for India in the tournament. This suggestion comes as the squad selection for the World Cup approaches.

Ganguly’s opinion carries weight given his stature in Indian cricket, both as a former player and as a former president of the BCCI. Kohli and Rohit are both renowned players with vast experience, and their partnership at the top of the order could potentially provide a strong start for the Indian team.

“Both Rohit Sharma and Viral Kohli will definitely go to West Indies and USA. Its a call for selectors whom they will open with but if you ask me personally both Rohit and Virat should open for India in the T20 World Cup,” said Ganguly.

“Of course, Rohit should captain the team in the T20I World Cup. Virat Kohli also should be there. Virat Kohli is an outstanding player, nothing will happen (to return after 14 months),” said Ganguly.

Kohli and Rohit have been great form for RCB and MI this season, despite the teams not performing up to the mark. Kohli is currently leading the Orange Cap standings with 379 runs from 8 matches this season with an average of 63.17. The RCB star has also maintained a strike-rate above 150 this season while opening the batting for RCB.
