XtraTime Web Desk: After winning the first test at Adelaide Oval India skipper Virat Kohli looked a bit emotional as four years back India lost at the same place by 48 runs. While talking about the game the skipper termed this win as special and stated that the win will give them a huge boost for the remainder of the series.
“Four years back it was 48 runs on the other side. This one is way better. 31 on our side. It’s a great feeling. Never taken lead in a series in Australia. Something that for us is a huge boost. It has given us the right momentum to play in a big series like this. Something we have had to worked hard for. Any Test victory is special, said Kohli while talking to the media at the end of the match.
Kohli lauded his bowlers for using the kookaburra ball well. Beside that the India skipper also stated they have always expected a good fight from the Aussies and didn’t take anything for granted.
“We did not take anything for granted. The pitch also got a little slow in the second session. The kookaburra gets softer and it is difficult to get the ball going off a length and nick batsmen off. Our fast bowlers still came back and bowled with great heart. We knew they were not going to throw in the towel just like that. Their tail, I think, is in the top three when it comes to lower order averages in the past couple of years. They put a price on their wicket. We certainly expected them to fight. We had that in mind. We never wanted to take it for granted,” added Kohli.
