Subhabrata Mukherjee: On Wednesday night at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) witnessed a high scoring thriller being played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Dhoni’s men came out victor in the match by 18 runs. Kolkata once looking down and out of the chase once they lost their first five wickets cheaply. But Andre Russell and Pat Cummins  was in the form of their life as they almost pulled off a thrilling win for their team only to fall short by just 18 runs. Chennai batted first today. Their openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis had a opening stand of 115 runs. Ruturaj finally  hit form with the bat as he scored 64 runs from just 42 deliveries.Du Plessis  remained not out on 95 from just 60 balls.Dhoni scored 17,Moeen 25 and Jadeja remained not out on 6 to steer their team to a huge total of 220 runs. 221 runs to win and KKR batters started off poorly as they lost 5 wickets for just 31 runs.Rana (9),Gill (0),Rahul (8),Narine (4) and Morgan (7) departed early . Then Russell show began with apartnership  of 81 stitched together with Dinesh Karthik. Russell scored a quick fire 54 off just 22balls and Kartika registered 40 runs from just 24balls. After their departure it looked over for KKR. But Cummins had other ideas. He almost pulled off a thriller for his team with a 66 run not out knock only to fell short by just 18 runs.
