T20 World Cup 2021: Waqar Younis tender apology for his comment on Rizwan offering namaz in the game against India

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former Pakistan speedster Waqar Younis on Wednesday tendered an apology for his comments on Mohammed Rizwan offering namaz during the game against India on Sunday in T20 World Cup 2021 here in Dubai.

Waqar commented that Rizwan “offering namaz in front of Hindus was special’. The former Pakistan pacer tendered an apology through his official Twitter account and said it was not intended at all. 

He said, “In the heat of the moment, I said something which I did not mean which has hurt the sentiments of many. I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, a genuine mistake.” 

He added, “sports unites people regardless of race, colour, or religion.” 

While talking to a Pakistani news channel ARY News, Waqar said, “The best thing, what Rizwan did, Mashallah, he offered the Namaz on the ground surrounded by Hindus, that was really something very special for me.” 

Realising his mistake Waqar tendered an apology as his comment sparked controversy with several cricketers, commentators and fans feeling disappointed.
