by 2 wickets in the first T20I at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Rinku Singh displayed his credentials as a finisher as he hit Sean Abbott for a six to help India chase down the massive 209-run target with a ball to spare

Suryakumar and Rinku Singh shared a 40-run stand for the fourth wicket in 17 balls which put India in a comfortable position. Ishan Kishan too scored a brilliant half-century (58 off 39).

There were plenty of drama towards the end with Axar Patel playing three dot balls in a row in the penultimate over and then got out in the final. Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh also got run out in the last over which put India in a tricky position.

With one run needed on the final ball Rinku held his nerves and smashed one over long-on for a six but it wasn’t counted as Abbot overstepped and it was given no-ball. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 22 off 14 balls which included four boundaries and a six.

Chasing the target, India lost Ruturaj Gaikwad for a diamond duck as poor communication between him and Yashasvi Jaiswal cost the hosts an early wicket in the first over. Meanwhile, Jaiswal was off to a flying start but failed to convert it into a big score and was dismissed for 21.
