Internet Desk: Upul Tharanga has been replaced and star all rounder Thisara Perera has been appointed as the new captain of Sri Lanka as the 28 year old player is expected to lead his side ahead of the three T20I against India.

Scheduled to be the island nation’s third captain in the limited overs format in this ongoing year Perera has a lot on his soulders. Earlier Tharanga was made the skipper when Angelo Mathews stepped down from his post in July.

The Lankan side suffered huge losses when they were whitewashed by South Africa and then by India and Pakistan.

As per reports the captaincy was scheduled to given back to Mathews however the all rounder was opted out after his constant struggles with injuries.

On the other hand Indian skipper Virat Kohli was rested for the series while vice captain Rohit Sharma would take the helm of the side against the Lankans.
