KOLKATA : It was a perfect weekend for Haitian international Sony Norde . Following his brace in Mumbai City FC’s 3-2 win over Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) on Friday , Norde confirmed his deal with I League champions Mohun Bagan . Norde will be joining the I-League champions on December 27. “The deal is done. I am flying out to Haiti now for a Christmas break and will be coming back to the city on December 27.”
Mohun Bagan coach was quite confident about Norde playing for his side during I League . Sanjay Sen was in constant touch with the Haiti footballer over whatsapp messenger . On being asked about the forthcoming AFC Champions League qualifying round match against S League champion Tampines Rovers , Sanjay sounded optimistic ,“ It will be a huge opportunity for my players and personally for me as well . This will be my first AFC match as a coach , so I would like to make it a memorable one .”
Meanwhile the club is going to participate in an exhibition match to be played at Bhanderhati Union Club Stadium, Bhanderhati, Hooghly on Sunday 6th December 2015, against CMC-TCS XI . The kick off is at 2:30 pm. The Exhibition match is the initiative of CMC Academy a unit of TATA Enterprise. The main objective of CMC Academy to organise the match is to give the green and maroon supporters of the locality an opportunity to witness Mohun Bagan footballers playing at their ground as many of these supporters are not financially strong to visit Kolkata to watch Mohun Bagan matches live.
Mohun Bagan coach Sanjay Sen is finding it difficult to organize a team of 18 players . Some what forcefully he had to call 4 footballers from the academy . Two footballers Sarthak Dolui and Sidhartha Khushwa will be watched keenly by Mohun Bagan coach as they are on trials . A good performance might open an opportunity for them to play in the senior team . There is a huge interest being generated for the match and the organizers are anticipating a packed stadium .
