Xtra Time Web Desk: The Men in Blue had a rigorous training session at the M Chidambaram stadium on Thursday ahead of their opening game in ICC CWC 2023. The likes of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer had an extended session in the nets along with Suryakumar Yadav. Local boy Ashwin was the first to go into the nets to bat along with Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah. Captain Rohit Sharma too batted in the nets at the start but his opening partner Shubman Gill was not present at the training session. Following Rohit’s knock in the nets, Virat walked in along with Shreyas Iyer. Both were seen spending a long time in the nets. The Mumbaikar had a special training towards the end of the practice session when he was seen taking throwdowns with a tennis ball from Heda Coach Rahul Dravid. It was basically to prepare well against the short bowling which is expected against the likes of Cummins, Starc and Hazzlewood.

Dravid was also seen spending a considerable time looking at the wicket and also discussing with the head ground staff. Towards the end of the practice session, Dravid was once again seen having a look at the 22 yards along with Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep. The Indians will be training under the lights tomorrow at the M Chidambaram stadium.
