Serie A: Cristiano Ronaldo scores screamer as Juventus beat Genoa 3-1 to maintain lead on top

Xtra Time Web Desk: A superb long range effort from Cristiano Ronaldo helped Juventus beat Genoa 3-1 in a Serie A fixture at Luigi Ferraris on Tuesday night. Pablo Dybala and D Costa were the other scorers for Juventus. A Pinamonti reduced the margin for Genoa. The win took Juventus to 72 points from 29 matches, four points clear of second placed Lazio who is on 68 points. Maurizio Sarri’s side has now won all their three consecutive matches in Seri A since losing the Coppa Italia final to Napoli.
Paulo Dybala opened the scoring for the Turin side in the 50th minute as he evaded three defenders before firing in a low shot past Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin. Seven minutes later it was Cristiano Ronaldo’s turn to extend the lead for Juve. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner gathered a pass near midfield, charged toward the goal and unleashed a blistering effort from 22 yards into the top corner past the outstretched Perin. It was the 24th goal of the season for the Portugese superstar. Substitute Douglas Costa made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute for the visitors as his curling shot went inside the far post. Andrea Pinamonti reduced the margin for Genoa in the 76th minute.
In another Serie a clash title chasers Lazio kept their hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Torino at the Olimpico di Torino stadium. Ciro Immobile and Parolo scored for Lazio while Belotti found the target for the home team.
