SAFF Championships: Sunil Chhetri scores brace as India beat hosts Maldives 3-1 to enter final

Xtra Time Web Desk: India put up a spirited performance led by their captain Sunil Chhetri who scored a brace as they defeated hosts Maldives 3-1 to enter the final of the SAFF Championships on Wednesday. Manvir Singh scored the other goal for the Blue Tigers.

India took the lead in the 33rd minute as Manvir Singh put the Blue Tigers in front. However, Maldives scored the equalizer as Ali Ashfaq converted a penalty for the hosts.

Indian captain Sunil Chhetri regained the lead for his team in the 62nd minute. Chhetri was on target again seven minutes later to put the game to bed in the 71st minute.

Igor Stimac’s boys will now face Nepal in the final.
