Rinku Singh gets emotional ahead of his likely T20I debut | IREvsIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: The upcoming three match T20I series against Ireland can see both Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma making their debuts for India. It will be a dream come true moment for both if they get an opportunity. Both Rinku and Jitesh earned a place in India T20I squad after their exceptional performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rinku could not hold back his emotions while chatting with Jitesh in the business class of the flight on way to Dublin. It was a moment to cherish for when he walked to bat at the nets wearing an Indian jersey.

“I feel very nice. It’s a player’s dream to be playing for the Indian national team. When I got to my room and saw my jersey which had my name and the number 35 emblazoned on it, it was a very emotional feeling,” Rinku said in an interaction with Sharma for BCCI.tv.

The Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer thanked his mother for being a pillar of strength and always motivating him to don the national colours.

“I was in Noida, in the place where I practice with my friends. When the team was announced, it felt really good. I called my mother and informed her. She always said that I had to play for India so both of our dreams came true,” said Rinku.

Rinku was picked for the Ireland tour on the back of a sensational campaign for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He finished as the leading run-scorer for Nitish Rana’s men, having racked up 474 runs from 14 matches at an average of 59.25 and a strike-rate of 149.52 with a top score of 67 not out.

The 25-year-old cricketer looked solid in the nets. Whether he will be given an opportunity to make his debut on Thursday in the first T20I against Ireland only time will say.
