Kolkata: Former India captain and member of CAC, Sourav Ganguly hits back at Ravi Shastri for his comments  post the high-profile interview process conducted by Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for the post of the Indian coach.

Slamming Shastri for his remarks he made a day earlier, Ganguly said, “I feel that the comments are very personal. He is residing in a fools world if he thinks he is not the coach of India because of me. There are people who are more reputed in the committee than I am.”

Post the interview, Shastri was the one who informed media about Ganguly’s absence during the interview.

A “disappointed” former Team Director Ravi Shastri hit out at Sourav Ganguly saying he was “disrespectful” of the candidate he was interviewing and the job of selecting the coach he was entrusted with.

“Not miffed at all. I am just disappointed. Nothing surprises me in cricket. It’s nothing to do with Sourav, but I am disappointed because that person was disrespectful of the candidate who was going to be interviewed and disrespectful of the job he was entrusted to do,” Shastri said.

He had advised Ganguly and said that “next time be in the meeting when someone is being interviewed for such a top post”.

Attacking Ganguly for absenting himself when his turn for interviewing came last week, Shastri said Ganguly should get counselled as he should attend such a meeting when next time someone is being interviewed for such a post.

Speaking to the media today, Dada added, “I am extremely saddened and disappointed by Ravi Shastri’s comment. I was reading it in couple of newspapers in last three to four days but chose to ignore it. Especially from someone who has been in BCCI committee for 20 years.”

Ganguly later added, “I had informed BCCI and attended the CAB Working Committee meeting in between the interview session.”

“If he was so keen to become India’s head coach then he should have been present physically during the session rather spending holidays in Thailand.” the former Kolkata batsman said.
