Rahul Dravid to replace Ravi Shastri as Head Coach of Indian team after T20 World Cup

Rahul Dravid is all set to take over as the Head Coach of India team after T20 World Cup.

Xtra Time Web Desk: In one of the biggest developments in Indian cricket the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has managed to convince former India captain Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of Indian team. Dravid will take over from Ravi Shastri after the completion of T20 World Cup 2021.

The deal was finalised after Dravid had a meeting with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah during the IPL 2021 final in Dubai. Dravid will be in the role till 2023. Dravid, who is presently the head of the National Cricket Academy and will leave that post before taking over as India’s head coach.

As per a report in TOI Dravid has been offered a hefty contract and will be drawing a salary of Rs 10 crore. The amount makes him one of the highest-paid Indian coaches.

Former Mumbai medium pacer Paras Mhambrey has been appointed as bowling coach. Mhambrey has worked with Dravid at the National Cricket Academy and U19 level. Both went to Sri Lanka for the white ball series recently. Vikram Rathour will continue as the batting coach. There is no announcement as to who will replace R Sridhar as the fielding coach.

This will be the third time when Dravid will be working with Team India. His first stint came in 2014, when he travelled to England as a batting consultant for the Test series. In July 2021, Dravid returned as interim head coach as Shastri-led coaching staff was in England.

As a coach, Dravid has worked with India A team, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.
