These included footballers Mehtab Hussain, Arnab Mondal, Pritam Kotal, Alvito D'Cunha, Soumik Dey and cricketer Shibshankar Pal. Mehtab Hussain went to Kerala yesterday to sign for the ISL franchisee Kerala Blasters FC but then returned to the city without signing a contract. On being asked the reason, he said “I went to sign the contract, I thought I would be retained but after reaching there, I came to know that they won’t retain me and the money that I was offered was not agreed by me, so I didn’t sign.” When Mehtab was asked whether he would be seen in East Bengal again, the former Red and Gold midfielder said, “Not only in East bengal, I will not be playing in any I-League team like I have said before. My career at East Bengal is over and there is no coming back” “For me ISL and ATK is past as I have a contract with East Bengal. I am thinking currently about the upcoming CFL. I have given by best at ATK for the past 3 years. Last year on account of injury I couldn’t play a lot of matches. This year I want to play a lot of matches and take my team to a better position” said East Bengal defender Arnab Mondal. “ATK has said they would retain me and the contract is to be finalized by today. Initially I was supposed to have a 3 year contract however currently a contract of 1 year is on the table. Leaving Mohun Bagan is very tough as I have played for 4 years in that club and my family supports the club too. But for the betterment of my career I had to do what I decided” said Pritam Kotal.
