Playing in front of home crowd is always special: KS Bharat

Xtra Time Web Desk: As the Indian cricket team gears up for the second Test match against England in Visakhapatnam starting from Friday, February 2, the spotlight will be on homegrown talent KS Bharat, who received a warm felicitation from the Andhra Cricket Association a day ahead of the test match. The small event was attended by Bharat’s parents including his father and mother. His coach too was present on the ocassion. Born in Visakhapatnam in 1993, Bharat made his Test debut in 2019 against Bangladesh.

Amidst the preparations, Bharat expressed his gratitude for the honour, receiving a flower bouquet, shawl, and memento from the Andhra Cricket Association. Despite the emotional significance of playing on his home ground, Bharat emphasized approaching the match as any other Test game, focusing on the team’s collective effort to bounce back.

Acknowledging it will be an emotional moment for him playing in front of the home crowd, Bharat highlighted the inevitable mix of cheers and jeers that come with representing one’s country. He stressed the importance of staying in the present moment, focusing on the larger objective of performing well in the Test match. Bharat’s perspective reflects a balance between the pride of playing at home and the professional commitment to the game.

“Playing in front of your home crowd is definitely special but emotions aside, I am looking at it as any other Test game that you are playing for your country. There is definitely something for us to look forward and bounce back that as an Indian team we have always done well,” Bharat said in the pre match press conference.

He added, “There will be lot of noises if you are playing for your country. There will be good noises, bad noisies, but the thing is you will have to be in the present moment. For me which is a pride moment playing in front of your home crowd, but if you look at the bigger picture, there is a Test match which is supposed to be played and our whole focus is definitely on that. Definitely it’s an overwhelming feeling”

As Bharat and the Indian team set their sights on the crucial second Test, the cricketer remains grounded, cherishing the overwhelming feeling of pride while keeping his focus on contributing to India’s success in the upcoming match.
