Internet Desk: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approved Najam Sethi as their unanimously chosen chairman at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lahore on Thursday.

Sethi will be taking over as the next PCB chief, once Shaharyar Khan completes his term.

For his contribution to Pakistan cricket, a resolution was also passed in the AGM, which recommended Sethi to be bestowed with a Pride of Performance award by the government.

Due to personal and health related reasons, Shaharyar made it apparent at the AGM that he didn’t want to go on as chairman, after his three-year term ends in August.

With stories being broadcast in the media about Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif looking at other candidates to succeed Shahrayar, the decision, which is part of three resolutions was passed in the AGM in Lahore.

“Perhaps pre-empting the situation, Sethi managed to get this resolution passed which basically confirms that he is very popular in the cricket board,” an insider said.

About 30 parties had submitted bids to buy the sixth franchise of the league, while eight matches of the third PSL would be held in Lahore and Karachi (four each), Sethi made public at the meeting.
