Internet Desk: Pakistan captain Misbah ul-Haq was handed a one match suspension by International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday for slow over rate in the first test match against New Zealand at Christchurch.

Misbah will be suspended for one test match and he’ll not be able to play the next, and final, test against New Zealand.

Pakistan bowled two overs less in the stipulated time at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. It was the second such offence committed by the Pakistan captain as his team failed to keep up with the over rate during Oval Test during the England series this year.

According to ICC rules, a team and its captain failing to keep up with the over rate twice in 12 months are also subject to fine. ICC has also imposed a fine of 40% of the match fee on Misbah ul-Haq.

It is pertinent to mention here that Misbah is already back in Pakistan due to the sad demise of his father-in-law.
