No disciplinary action taken against Ishan Kishan, says Dravid

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan is very much in the reckoning to be included for the upcoming five match test series against England. Head Coach Rahul Dravid has refuted claims of Ishan’s exclusion from the T20I series against Afghanistan due to disciplinary issues, asserting that it was a voluntary break sought by the cricketer himself. Dravid clarified that Ishan has not yet made himself available for selection, dispelling reports of any disciplinary concerns.

Dravid emphasized that when Ishan becomes available, he will engage in domestic cricket before making himself eligible for selection. 25-year-old Ishan is contemplating making himself available for the Test series, scheduled to begin in Hyderabad from January 25.

Following the team management’s protocol, led by Rahul Dravid, which mandates participation in a domestic game before an international return after a prolonged break, Ishan may potentially feature in Jharkhand’s upcoming fixture against Services in Delhi starting from January 19. This would serve as a platform for him to showcase his readiness for the international arena, having last played for India on November 28.

KS Bharat was named as a replacement for Ishan after he opted out of the two match test series against South Africa. Bharat has been named in India A squad to play in the series against England Lions to be played in Ahmedabad. Nevertheless, Ishan Kishan remains a potential candidate as a second wicketkeeper along with KL Rahul for the upcoming five match test series against England scheduled to begin from January 25.
