Kolkata: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who stepped down as India’s ODI and T-20 captain recently, will be felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) when the team led by new skipper Virat Kohli takes on England in the third and final rubber at the Eden Gardens on January 22.

Dhoni, who scored an unbeaten 68 in his last match as captain of India A side playing a practice match against England XI in Mumbai on Tuesday, will be given a plaque and a shawl as per CAB officials.

The Ranchi man is arguably India’s finest captain leading India to two a T-20 and limited overs World Cup in 2007 and 2011 respectively.

In another development, the reply to the clarification the CAB had sought from the RM Lodha committee on Monday regarding the post of assistant secretary being an office bearer or not is expected to come on Wednesday after a meeting of the Lodha committee members.

Meanwhile, the designation of Biswarup Dey is given as treasurer of the association in the invitation card for Mayors Cup, which was sent by Cricket Association of Bengal.

Mintu Das, the School Cricket sub-committee member of the CAB claimed, “The invitation card was printed by the Kolkata Corporation and not by us. Due to the recent developments the designation of Biswarup cannot be changed at the last minute.”
