After beating the Real Madrid striker to win the Ballon d’Or , the Argentine and Barca superstar have reportedly piped Ronaldo to buy the most expensive car . When you’re the best footballer in the world, you get to play with some pretty nice toys – and Lionel Messi might have just bought himself one of the very coolest.
An anonymous buyer recently bought a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti at auction in Paris for around €32m, and the Proto Organisation – whose owner Alessandro Proto sold the car – have reportedly claimed that Messi was the buyer.
The price rose from €20m at the start of the auction all the way up to the astronomical €32m final fee, making it the most expensive car in history.
The organisation claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo was also interested in the purchase of the car but that, once again, he was beaten out by Messi.
