Kolkata: As Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav were slogging it out against the English batsmen at the Chepauk on Thursday, Md Shami was busy encouraging his brother at the Eden Gardens. Md Kaif, brother of Md Shami took his first five for in Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) first Division league at the Eden Gardens. Kaif got a five wickets in his first appearance for Town Club on the first day of the CAB first division league.

Shami, who is nursing an injury, has been rested for the fifth and final test match of the series against England. The fast bowler from UP who also made his local club cricket debut for Town got his brother as well to play for the same club. Kaif has an identical bowling action like his brother. He rattled the Eastern Railway batsman with his pace early on at the Eden Gardens.

Kaif is playing his second season of club cricket here in Kolkata. He was with Taltala Institue last season. Kaif has been getting tips of fast bowling from his brother. Shami, who is busy playing for India helps him whenever he finds an opportunity. Shami ensured that he is present at the Eden Gardens to witness his brother making his debut at local cricket. Kaif did not disappoint his brother as he went on to take five wickets in the first innings.

A shy looking Kaif later told to xtratime.in, “He (Shami) helps me with my bowling whenever he finds an opportunity. He was here at the Eden Gardens to encourage me on my debut in club cricket here in Bengal.”

Shami, as we all know made it big playing for the country from Bengal. The fast bowler from Moradabad came to Bengal with a hope to make it big in international cricket. Let’s hope Md Kaif can emulate his illustrious brother.
