The Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha confirmed the decision, revealing that Mary Kom had formally requested to be relieved from her duties in a letter addressed to her.
Expressing her regret over the decision, Mary Kom stated, “I consider it an honour to serve my country in every way possible, and I was mentally prepared for it. However, I regret that I will not be able to uphold the prestigious responsibility and would like to resign, owing to personal reasons.” The celebrated athlete emphasized her commitment to supporting her country and the competing athletes, despite stepping down from her role.
