Xtra Time Web Desk : Legendary former Team India off spinner Harbhajan Singh announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Friday. This marked the end of his 23 year long stupendous career which had quite a lot of unforgettable moments including the 2011 World Cup triumph.


Harbhajan Singh, popularly known as 'Bhajji' made his debut for Team India in the year of 1998 at the age of just 17 in a Test match against a strong Australian side. Although his career didn't take off in the way he would have liked to because of investigations over his bowling action but the 'Turbanator's' career was resurrected by the then Team India captain Sourav Ganguly in the 2001 Test series against Australia.


Due to an injury to Team India's then leading spinner Anil Kumble, Bhajji as his replacement broke into the team with stellar performances. In that he Test series victory over Australia, Harbhajan established himself as the team's leading spinner by as he took 32 wickets, becoming the first Team India bowler to take a hat-trick in Test cricket.


And since then, the 41 year old didn't have to look back as he was an integral part of both Team India's triumph of the 2007 T20I World Cup and 2011 World cup wins. The legendary off spinner also won the IPL quite a few times and was a very successful bowler for Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings. In the last season though, Harbhajan served as both a bowler and later a mentor for a Kolkata Knight Riders team that went through all the way to the IPL 2021 final.


Apart from all of Harbhajan's collective achievements, the Turbanator also has played 103 Test matches for Team India and has picked up 417 wickets. In ODI's also, he has played 236 times for the country and picked up 269 wickets.
