Internet Desk: Leander Paes and Marcin Matkowski got through a tough game against Aliaksandr Bury and Denis Istomin in the first round of the men’s doubles draw of the French Open. The Indo-Polish pair beat their opponents 7-6, 7-6 on Wednesday.

Paes and Matkowski converted two out of the five break points that they achieved but Bury and Istomin who also converted two break points, had ten break points to exploit.

The number 16 seeds actually won only two more points than their opponents in the entire match. Paes and Matkowski will face Julian Knowle and Florian Mayer in their next match.

Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea, seeded sixth, were dominating in their 6-2 6-2 win over French team of Stephane Robert and Alexandre Sidorenko.
