Xtra Time Web Desk: Fifties from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul helped India beat Bangladesh by 5 runs in rain curtailed Super-12 clash at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night. The win almost guarantees Rohit Sharma and his boys a place in the semi-final. Chasing 185 runs to win, Bangladesh opener Liton Das blazed his way to a brilliant 60 off just 27 balls. A sudden spell of showers revised the target to 151 runs in 16 overs for Bangladesh. Indian bowlers kept picking wickets immediately after the break to restrict the Tigers to 145/6.

The Men in Blue now have 6 points from 4 games. South Africa slipped to 2nd but they can go to the top if they beat Pakistan tomorrow. A loss for Pakistan will knock them out of the ongoing T20 World Cup.

If South Africa lose, they will have to win the last match against Netherlands to qualify. Bangladesh is also not out yet. If they beat Pakistan by a big margin and South Africa lose to Pakistan and Netherlands, Bangladesh can qualify with 6 points.

Bangladesh opener Liton Das it up the Adelaide Oval with a wide range of shots after. But the rain break broke the momentum. Bangladesh were 17 runs ahead of Duckworth-Lewis method when rain stopped play. They needed another 85 in nine overs with all wickets in hand.

A brilliant piece of fielding from KL Rahul saw Liton short of his crease as the Bangladesh batter unfortunately slipped while taking a run in the first over after the rain break. Bangladesh skipper Shakib al Hasan looked positive as he hit Ravichandran Ashwin for two massive sixes. India captain Rohit Sharma brought Arshadeep Singh into the attack and he immediately gave double breakthroughs, removing Shakib and Shanto. The Tigers required 20 runs from the final over bowled by Arshdeep. The young left arm pacer kept his nerves as he restricted the Bangladeshi batters to just 15 runs.

Earlier, KL Rahul played a magnificent knock of 50 runs off 32 balls. Virat Kohli too looked brilliant as he scored an unbeaten 64 off 44 balls.
