KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer returns, Tilak Varma gets maiden call-up for Asia Cup 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: Ajit Agarkar led selection committee on Monday picked the 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. As expected, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer made a comeback after recovering from injury. Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna too were included in the 17-member squad. Yuzuvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin did not find favours with the selectors. Sanju Samson was kept as a standby. The selection meeting was attended by Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Head Coach Rahul Dravid at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi.

Kuldeep Yadav has been preferred over experienced leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are the other two spinners in the side.

Ishan Kishan was chosen over Sanju Samson as the second wicketkeeper and reserve opener in the squad. However, Samson will travel to Sri Lanka as a reserve player.

Hardik Pandya has been named the vice-captain of the side.
