Jayant Yadav, Mandeep Singh gets a call for the ODI series against New Zealand

Internet Desk: Haryana off spinner Jayant Yadav and Punjab batsman Mandeep Singh has been named in the fifteen member Indian team for the first three ODI’s against New Zealand. The new selection committee under MSK Prasad decided to rest off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Rabindra Jadeja and Md Shami. The team to be lead by MS Dhoni has a blend of youth and experience. Several senior players, who were rested for the Zimbabwe tour in June this year, return to ODI squad.

While seniors Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Amit Mishra, who missed the Zimbabwe series in June, return to the ODI set-up. Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar aren’t part of the squad because of injury.The selectors also chose to rest R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, while Mohammed Shami too has been given a break.

Also returning to the team is Suresh Raina, who wasn’t part of the selectors’ scheme of things in recent times. The 29-year-old left-handed batsman last played an ODI in October 2015 was dropped from the Indian team due to a series of poor form with the bat.
