Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as a frontrunner to be named as the vice-captain of Indian team for upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023. All rounder Hardik Pandya is currently the vice-captain in ODIs.

Ajit Agarkar led selection committee will pick the squad for Asia Cup 2023 in Delhi on Monday. Captain Rohit Sharma and Head Coach Rahul Dravid will attend the meeting. It goes to be seen if the selectors pick 17-member squad for the continental event.

According to reports there is a possibility of imminent shift in leadership dynamics, with Jasprit Bumrah poised to take over as vice-captain, replacing Hardik Pandya. This decision comes after the recent series against Ireland, where Bumrah led the Indian side, demonstrating his leadership capabilities.

In contrast, Hardik Pandya led the Indian team in the five-match T20I series against West Indies, which concluded with a 2-3 loss.

Bumrah's seniority in leadership is evident, having previously captained the Test team in 2022 and served as the ODI vice-captain during the tour to South Africa. His wealth of experience and past roles make him a natural and promising choice for the vice-captaincy role, positioning him to provide invaluable support to Rohit Sharma in upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup 2023 campaigns.

As the squad is about to be revealed on Monday, fans eagerly await this new chapter in Indian cricket's leadership story.
