Kolkata: East Bengal team management feels that after the stalemate against Mumbai FC, the Red and Gold brigade are not at all out of contention for the championship. Biswajit Bhattacharya quoted as saying, “Its difficult but not out of our reach. We have to win all the matches from here on. But now my aim is totally on winning the very important Bengaluru FC match on Sunday.”

Meanwhile, after today’s practice session at the club ground, East Bengal players and coaching staff had a long discussion with East Bengal top official Debabrata Sarkar. The players were asked where the actual problem lies. Debabrata Sarkar quoted as saying,” I won’t make it public what I have discussed with the players. I have said one thing to the players that when other clubs are suffering from payment issues and others, you all receive payments and everything time to time. So club also wants some positive results from you.”

In the meeting, it was decided that from today onwards apart from coach and captain no one will speak to the media. The Red and Gold coach did not blame any players on East Bengal’s draw against Mumbai FC but raised questions on Mumbai FC’s second goal by Ashutosh Mehta which according to the gaffer was a clear offside. East Bengal team management is little worried about Ranti’s hamstring injury which he sustained in the last match.
