Xtra Time Web Desk : ATK Mohun Bagan on Saturday sealed yet another comfortable victory over Northeast United in the Indian Super League, after initially faltering behind, in what was a thrilling encounter between the two sides.
Juan Ferrando’s team tried to get the upper hand in the match from the minute 1 of the match through playing attacking, possession football. But all their hard work was nullified on the 17th minute of the match as gun striker VP Suhair scored a goal put the Highlanders 1-0 ahead.
The lead was however nullified by the Mariners as Jonny Kauko scored a brilliant equaliser to put them 1-1 level in the game. The Green and Maroons’ scoreline was doubled just before the half time whistle by Liston Colaco on the 45 minute mark to put his team 2-1 ahead.
The second half however started with both teams playing attacking football, eyeing for a big win. The Mariners however were on the move as they kept much more possession of the ball and and made use of it, which resulted in Manvir Singh scoring the 3rd goal for the Green and Maroon to give them a decisive 3-1 lead over the Highlanders.
Northeast United after faltering 3-1 behind in the match, tried to make their way back into the game but failed to do so. On the other hand the scoreline could have been even bigger and better for ATK Mohun Bagan had they not wasted their chances.
