ISL 2020-21: East Bengal may not play the top tier league for this reason

Kolkata: Kolkata giants East Bengal may not play the Indian Super League this season. After getting the investor and the much needed green signal from FSDL, the supporters off the Red and Gold Brigade started thinking that their mother club will surely play the top tier league this season. The club management was supposed to send a bond paper to the investor’s last week, but surprisingly they haven’t send anything to Shree Cement. The spokesperson of Shree Cement, Shrenik Seth told that,”We will wait for couple of more days, if don’t get solved by then, we may part ways with East Bengal.”

But what’s the problem? As per sources, a few days ago a special general meeting was held at East Bengal Club tent. The members of the club are unhappy with some conditions of the investor. Those conditions are:

1) The constitution of the club and the investor are totally different. If anything goes wrong in future, the constitution of the investor’s will get the priority. East Bengal members are unhappy with this.

2) Till now the club members elect East Bengal’s working committee via voting but in the new constitution the board will hold the power of the members of the club and for that reason there won’t be any power in the hands of the Executive Committee.

3) In the new constitution, there will be no power in the hands of the secretaries of the various sports depertments of East Bengal Club and the Red & Gold members are opposing this decision.

The club officials have talked many times on these three matters for various times, but only for a few members the problem is still there. Despite of the efforts of West Bengal Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee and FSDL, East Bengal still may not play the Indian Super League for this reason because if they don’t agree with all the terms and conditions of Shree Cement, they might part ways with East Bengal soon.
