Xtra Time Web Desk: Mumbai batter Rohit Sharma gave an inspirational speech in the dressing room following their first win against Delhi Capitals of the IPL 2024 season. MI beat DC by 29 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to post their first points of the new season. Rohit was one of MI’s star-performers on the night, scoring a 27-ball 49 to get his side off to a flying start. His effort helped MI post their third-highest total in the history of the Indian Premier League. Rohit stepped down from his role as MI captain following the historic trade move of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans.
In a video posted by MI on social media platform ‘X’, Rohit is given a medal by former MI all-rounder turned batting coach Keiron Pollard before giving a rousing speech in the dressing room, hailing the team’s batting performance. Rohit missed out on a well-deserved half-century, being dismissed after scoring 49 runs off 27 balls, smashing six boundaries and three sixes against Delhi.

“It was a wonderful batting performance. It’s something that we’ve all been striving for from game one. It goes to show that individual performances don’t matter if the whole batting group can stand up put their hand up and take a look at the team’s goal, we can achieve that kind of total,” said Rohit.
Following their win over DC, the five-time IPL champions will turn their focus towards RCB, with the two sides set to lock horns at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 11.
