Xtra Time Web Desk: The Punjab Kings (PBKS) showcased an impressive performance in the IPL 2024 match against the Gujarat Titans (GT), pulling off the highest successful run-chase of the season. Despite facing early setbacks with a score of 70/4, all-rounder Shashank Singh emerged as the unlikely hero, smashing an unbeaten 61 off 29 balls to lead PBKS to victory. Partnered by Ashutosh Sharma, they defied the odds and secured the win.

As Shashank hit the winning run off Darshan Nalkande on the penultimate delivery, PBKS co-owner and bollywood actress Preity Zinta jumped from her seat, joining the celebrations from the stands.

The match saw noteworthy performances, with GT's Shubman Gill scoring the highest individual score of the season with 89*, supported by Rahul Tewatia's quick cameo of 23* off 8 deliveries, setting a challenging target of 200 for PBKS.

Following the successful chase, PBKS now stands fifth in the IPL 2024 standings with four points, while Gujarat holds the sixth position, also with four points.

PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan praised the crucial partnership between Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh, acknowledging their contributions under pressure. Dhawan highlighted Shashank's remarkable innings and Ashutosh's composed knock as instrumental in the team's victory, emphasizing Shashank's positive mindset and adaptability despite starting from a lower batting order position.
